PCM vs Dolby True. “300″ Bluray, Am I missing something?Ok. So I expected to see a thread like this eventually - I just did not expect to see myself start it. I went in to this release FULLY expecting the two tracks to sound the same minus a small volume difference MAYBE. BUT NO. There is a HUGE difference. The PCM track is much fuller and distinct accross the front soundstage. I really do not hear much of a difference across the surrounds. Maybe a touch more "in your face" but not much imo.So what is going on? I touched up the Dolby.

Good receiver options for $300 or lessMy wife and I just bought our first house last month and want to put a modest home theater in the basement. This will be our first theater and we are on a pretty tight budget and cant spend a lot of money. The previous owner had a room in the basement wired for 5.1 so we are obviously going to use that. The room is 11×12 so we dont have much space. We have DISH and only plan on hooking up a DVD recorder at this time. We may upgrade to an upconverting DVD player in the future. We are.
