New Flat Screen — What to expectI have just purchased a new 42" LCD Toshiba 42R530U Regza flat screen TV with 1080p resolution. I have just hooked up my DVD player to it using component video cables. I am disappointed in what I am seeing–from my viewing distance of 8 feet I can easily see all of the pixels, especially in the faces, etc. When trying to change the setup of my RCA low end DRC247N DVD player and change from YUV interlace to YUV progressive, the screen divides into two duplicate screens, so that definitely is.

Master and Commander: what’s with the audio?Has anyone else been annoyed by the audio choices on the recent Blu-ray release of Master and Commander? This is not only one of my favorite films to watch, but with its truly astounding sound mix, also one of my favorites to listen to. I couldn’t tell you the number of times I’ve used my standard DVD to demonstrate to friends just how incredible a home theatre screening can be. Well, as soon as it came out a my local video store, I picked up a copy of the Blu-ray edition. I suppose I should.

FS: Sony 40XBR700 & SVS 20-39CS sub with Samson 2×400watt amplifierI’m moving to a VERY small apartment in Manhattan, thus some extra home theater stuff needs to be sold.40" Sony 40XBR700 CRT TV with matching grey and frosted glass Sony stand. 1080i inputs, beautiful picture. I purchased this new from Tweeter and have never had a problem with it. This would be perfect for a play room or second TV for gaming. I hate to see it go.There are two small scratches on the left side from the one time I moved since purchasing this TV. I can e-mail close-up.
