Newb receiver inquiryNew to the forum. I am really glad to have found a place with this tremendous amount of knowledge minus the bad attitude and flame wars. Just bought a Pioneer VSX-1016TXV receiver and like it so far. Does anyone know of any problems with this receiver or know of any short-comings which I may find?

Dolby TrueHDI’m currently considering the various options for an HD player and I’d like to know what capabilities I’d need (or if it is even possible in my system) to take advantage of Dolby TrueHD and the DTS equivalent. My receiver is a little older and, although it is a decent 7.1ch receiver, it does not have any HDMI inputs.I guessing that the standard digital out would not support this, right? Would I need a player capable of 7 channel analog output? Or is this only possible through HDMI audio?
upconverting questionsNewbee checking in.Ive had HDTV for 18 days now.I am so impressed with 1080i that 480p just doesnt cut it for me.I will be getting an upconverting DVD recorder before the year is out.I would prefer it have QAM, so that I may program this thing as I would my VCR.I know Panasonics DMR-EZ27 and DMR-EZ47V, and LGs DR787T and DR797T and some other models (Phillips, Magnavox, Samsung, etc) have this functionality.

What Do You Think About This?Hey Everyone,You know how we have Satellite Radio and Music Choice TV channels that have channels dedicated to specific decades of music (50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, etc.)? Well anyway, I think that it would be cool if there were TV channels dedicated to TV shows from specific decades. For example, the 80’s channel could air shows such as "ALF", "Family Ties", "Gimme A Break!", L.A. Law", etc. I think it would be even greater if these shows were aired uncut, just like they were on their.
